Hello, I'm back in England for Christmas!
This is my first blog entry since arriving back from Paris on Friday evening, as the preparations for Christmas and general sorting-myself-out-after-five-weeks-away have taken over my life somewhat. Anyway, I'll have more things to share with you over the Christmas and New Year period, but I thought you might like to see these gorgeously snowy pictures I took through the window of the Eurostar train while travelling through Northern France on Friday afternoon.
(Please click on the following images to view larger versions...)
When I left, there wasn't really any snow to speak of in Paris - it had all melted. However, it soon became clear that elsewhere in France it was a different matter. As we travelled to the outskirts of Paris, there was a dusting of snow; a few miles further on and the dusting had turned into a few centimetres. Then it began to resemble a winter wonderland - we even went through a blizzard that was so heavy I couldn't tell the difference between land and sky! The weather slowed down the train quite a lot - my journey took around three hours instead of the usual 2 hours 15 minutes.
When I reached London I found that my train to Suffolk had been cancelled, but after a minor panic I was instructed to jump on to "any other train" that was heading to where I wanted to go, so that's just what I did! I made it home safely and (miraculously) only very slightly later than planned.

Glad you are home - Happy Christmas Natty.
Yes the 2 first images especially look like "Natty Paintings".
Large canvases perhaps?

Lovely pictures of the snow. Thanks for sharing them though I'm glad that snow isn't here. Sounds like you have mixed emotions about being home.
Happy Holidays and have a safe a Merry Christmas!

I do have mixed emotions, Jan - it's really good to be back home for a variety of reasons but I miss Leon a lot. :(
Thanks so much for your comments on my blog recently, and I hope you have a really lovely Christmas!

@Laura, Martin M & Cathie Joy: Thanks! And I agree with you about the images looking like my artwork; it's partly the reason I took them! When I saw the trees in a row (in the first photo), I couldn't believe how similar it was to a painting I made about five years ago. :)

It's uncanny how much they look like some of your paintings. I saw a stretch of landscape in Paphos the other day which reminded me of your work; different colours but similar composition.
Beautiful photos!!

Natasha,
Happy holidays and may 2011 be everything you hope it to be and more.
Like others I was struck by how like your paintings the snowy landscape pics are, and I can see why you took them ... affirmation to and from you to and from nature. I loved them.
Can imagine you really are missing Leon but hope settling back goes well and creativity blossoms.
xx
