This week I finally finished my new studio space! As I mentioned in the previous blog post, I'd had to put it on hold for a little while so that I could concentrate on meeting my art deadlines by the end of July, but I was keen to complete the studio this week because I'm now making a start on the work for my upcoming solo show this Autumn. I wanted everything to be organised and tidy before I start working like an absolute maniac over the next couple of months or so - I've discovered from experience that if my workspace is tidy I can actually work more efficiently and not feel quite so overwhelmed. That's the general idea anyway. ;)
I also recently found the final piece of furniture I was looking for - a metal cabinet / sideboard, which is now providing much needed storage and display space. So without further ado, let's get on to the photos - I've added little notes to a few of them in case you're interested in knowing where you can get something similar. If you'd like to ask me any questions about the organsation of the space / what I find works for me / or if I've missed anything out, just ask in the comments section below. I will say just one thing though: IKEA is the most fantastic place for kitting-out a studio. Many of their everyday pieces of furniture are perfect for studio use and storage - I don't know what I would have done without them!

I want to know about the artwork on the walls - especially the one that looks like a barn with a red tree and a white tree in it :)

I covet your brush collection and enormous stack of canvases. Loving the grey.

Hi Erika,
It's a poster print by this illustrator on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/robhodgson
I love his work! :)
The other paintings on the walls are originals I've had for years.

Great studio pix! So clean and well organized. What a difference it makes when you can find things quickly. I always feel inspired when the studio is picked up. My new Ikea stuff is working so well. Now to order the monster PAX wardrobe for all the fabric! Congrats on finishing all the hard work. Now for the fun work..:))))- Jules

It's amazing!
My studio looks exactly like yours...if you include the temper tantrums, grenades & total absence of anything Ikea. ;)
I do however sleep on an Ikea bed, when I can drag my lazy butt upstairs. Otherwise the futon in the studio is just fine.
OK. Honestly. I can't remember the last time I threw an actual temper tantrum (it might have been in the 80s, & it was either some dry mounting material I was trying or a Rapidograph that set me off).
But I hear rustling at night sometimes. I'm pretty sure it's my clutter reproducing.

Looks absolutely gorgeous, and so organised! But I am curious about painting and carpet? I think I am carpet traumatised from having had 4 kids accidentally trash more carpet than I like to remember! X

Wow, that's a really cool studio! It's very inspirational and I bet you can't wait to get to work in there everyday! Well done and thanks for the inspiration.
