So, two things have happened since Friday.
1. I started a new series, called Birds of Hope. You can read more about the idea behind them in the Etsy description here.
And here they are in a little snapshot taken with my iPad!

And 2. I got so tired of my long hair in the Summer heat here in Paris - it was the longest it had been for years - that on Friday I grabbed the scissors and chopped it off!
I'm quite good at cutting hair (I've done it before, several times), so without hesitation I lopped off about 5 inches (13 cm) in a couple of big snips! The evidence is above. Then I spent a good 45 minutes neatening it up, adding some subtle layers at the front, and generally cutting a little more off. The end result was a little shorter than I had initially visualised; it's basically a bob. But I love it! It's so much easier to care for and it feels all swingy and light and lovely.
Here's the finished result! This was previously posted on Instagram, initially in response to a friend who wanted to see evidence of my self-inflicted haircut. I don't often post pictures of myself on the blog for all to see as I tend to get embarrassed - I don't want people to come to the blog, load the page, and BAM! there's my face right there. You come for the art, you don't need to see my mugshot. But I'm making an exception because this haircut, this haircut I did with my art scissors (don't shudder; they were all I had with me here in Paris and they're really sharp!) has been the most complimented haircut of my life! What's going on there? I have no idea, but I like it.
I always thought I suited longer hair rather than a bob. Turns out I was wrong. I'm keeping this bob. And next time, I might go shorter.
