It may be a Saturday but I'm working my little socks off preparing for the upcoming show at Atelier Klint on the island of Sylt, so I have limited time in which to blog today. I wanted to share a new painting with those of you who haven't seen it yet - it's called A Tale To Tell and it's a commissioned piece for somebody who has already bought several pieces of my work through the Serena Hall Gallery in Southwold. He asked whether I would make a special bird painting to go with another bird piece he'd bought, except he wanted the two little birds to represent his young daughters.

This request has sparked off a great idea for a new branch of my business - one I'm in the process of developing at the moment. I've mentioned it on Twitter but I haven't written about it on the blog yet - due to lack of time today I'll save it until next week, when everything will be explained!
Art Giveaway
I haven't done one of these for a while, but I occasionally like to run little competitions or giveaways to say thank you for supporting my work. There have been a few milestones recently, so this competition is to celebrate passing 4,000 (yes...4,000!! I can hardly believe it myself...) followers for the blog, as well as 1,400 'favourites' for The Blackbird Sings Etsy shop, and 1,700 followers on my Twitter page too! The new shop Le Merle Noir is also nearly at 50 'favourites' too, so it seems like a good opportunity to celebrate!
There will be one winner and one runner-up - the winner will receive an original 6x4" ink illustration and some other little goodies (postcards/stickers etc.) and the runner-up will receive a small 6x4" collaged piece and a fine art postcard or two! So...pretty good prizes, I hope you'll agree?!
All you have to do is leave a comment here on the blog (it can be anything you like), and in a week's time, I'll put all the names into a hat and pick a winner and a runner-up. Good luck!
