I've been mentioning my desire to make my own archival fine art prints for a long time. Well, last month I finally decided to do something about it. After hearing many good reviews, I invested in an Epson R3000 A3+ printer and I couldn't be happier with it. I now have the ability to decide which of my paintings I'd like to offer as prints; I can print in different sizes and on a variety of gorgeous fine art papers; and I can print on demand instead of having to invest in a batch of prints upfront from a printing company (as I have done in the past).
It was a fairly large investment at first: the printer, pigment inks (although at the moment I'm actually still using the inks that came with the printer!), several different sizes and types of fine art paper, not to mention the packaging for the prints. But now I'm all set up and ready to go, and I have the ability to create museum quality prints with pigment inks that are guaranteed not to fade or yellow for 100+ years. I also use special acid-free art papers for the prints, so you can be assured of the quality. Each print is hand-signed too.
Below are just a few examples of the different prints I have in the shop at the moment, but to check out the full range so far, please visit The Blackbird Sings shop on Etsy. In the future, I will also be releasing limited edition prints (signed and numbered) alongside the open editions, and many more print sets and new designs. I love the possibilities!
